Ratae Co-operative Players
Frankenstein

When choosing his first play as a director Colin Woods decided to go for the comedy horror “The House of Frankenstein!”, by Martin Downing. With plenty of scope for giving it a personalised touch it featured a large cast and saw the Ratae debuts of Sue Bourne and Phil Norman.

Baron Frankenstein, bored with his attempts to give life to the lifeless, has turned his attention to curing the supposedly incurable. This is the excuse for a variety of unusual dinner guests to join with the Baron’s equally unusual servants as they seek help for their various afflictions. With plenty of jokes and strange behaviour the cast (and crew) could really have a bit of fun with this light-hearted comedy.

Besides the cast, particular mention should go to Malcolm Wardle. Not only did he voice ‘The Invisible Man’, but also provided the horrific make-up for key characters and produced very atmospheric painting of the set. Then, working with Janice Muddimer, he nearly stole the show during the scene changes by coming on in costume to change props and taking part in the ‘chase’ scene.
